Humans love to explore. Strangely enough even horrible places - like Mars. Let’s see how building a Mars base could work and how insanely nerve-wracking exactly it would be.

A Mars base? Really? To what end? For what purpose? What is the end-goal for building a Mars base? Do you even know? Seriously, there is nothing on Mars of any interest, it is a completely dead rock, through and through. Even its core has cooled and solidified. Humans cannot survive there, not even in a habitat. As, even in a habitat the humans that went there would be blasted by solar radiation on a regular basis. Here on Earth we have a magnetosphere that protects us from such radiation. Without that our planet would quickly look like Mars. On Mars all it would take to kill every human on it is a single solar flare. Here on Earth that would be practically nothing. On Mars it would just be the end, full stop. Not only that, but the soil there is straight up deadly. Even if the planet was terraformed(impossible by the way), the soil there would still keep people from going outside. You can't breathe it in, hell, you can't even get it on your skin. No way to make food, no way to where to get drinking water. Humans will die so fast that in order to keep a presence on Mars we will have to send millions of people there in a never ending string of missions. One mission takes off here and there better be a rocket waiting to go, to be launched immediately afterward. Oh, and that isn't even mentioning the perfectly normal rape and murder that will have to be done, in the name of survival. Oh yeah, this just got dark, real dark. But true nonetheless. See, humans can't survive on Mars. Not as we are today. We evolved to survive on *_THIS_* planet, specifically. We are specialized to live here and *_ONLY_* here. And at that, we have only actually evolved to live on exactly 30% of this planet's surface, as we have not yet evolved to survive in our oceans, which makes up the remaining 70% of the Earth's surface. But we do know how to breed and evolve. But you are not going to like it... And "Gruesome" doesn't even come close to describing what is necessary. The very moment a female reaches puberty, no matter her age, she will have to be impregnated, even she doesn't want to, even if she doesn't fully understand what is going on. And the males, age is irrelevant, as long as they are the strongest against the Mars environment, will have to be the only ones to do it. And they too will have to do it, even if they don't want to, even if it is against their will. On Earth we call that rape. On Mars that will just be survival. Further, all of those that are weak against the Martian environment must be euthanized. As you just simply can't have them breeding in the genepool. You *_MUST_* move forward. You cannot afford to have any accidents, no unsanctioned breeding. Such a thing would have to be punished by death. Here on Earth we call that murder. On Mars that will just be survival. All of this with the sole goal of breeding a human, the first human, that can actually survive in the Martian environment. A human that is immune to the Martian regolith, can survive in the massive dust storms, can breath in the zero air atmosphere and is immune to the raw solar radiation. And more. Personal feelings, emotions, desires, none of those will hold any meaning on Mars once people get there with no way of getting back. It will be either breed up then die, or just die. The first creature Earth that crawled out of the ocean and onto the shore, it immediately died. But they kept on trying and eventually one survived. That one eventually found another one and they kept on fucking till they had babies that could live on land. And so on and so forth. That is how Mars will be. Wrap your your privileged mind around that!! Seriously, there are 7.7 billion people alive today. And there were an estimated 107 billion that lived and died before you to make the world what it is today. They all endured what you would consider Hell on Earth to make the world what it is toady, just for you. And what you are asking is, for another 107 billion people to do it all over again, this time knowing what lies ahead, but are likely unwilling to do any of that yourself. And here I thought you were smart. I was clearly mistaken.

@TheLordify Terrible is not the same as stupid. If you watch the video you'll see that the channel clearly supports the Mars colonization and is just using the world terrible to express difficulty, but interpreting it as just an exciting challenge. Again, that's incredibly childish, and definitely unaware of the real challenges and complications that would entail.

  50. David Tekaat

    David Tekaat

    9 dagen geleden

I have looked at a lot of videos about colonizing the moon & Mars. And I haven't found any with my same ideas. I think we should set up a moon colony on earth. We should have inflatable domes, which we cover with 3D printers with simulated moon mortar. The domes should be connected to each other by inflatable tunnels covered with simulated moon mortar. There should be living quarters, hydroponic green houses, gardens with garden soil for recreational gardening, a 5 acre pasture with one inch of garden soil and one inch of grass turf, a park with artificial turf and with small sections of real grass turf, and maybe even a very small zoo. All the domes will have plastic floors so no water is lost. Condensation forming on the ceilings will be drained into the water supply. All the domes will be blown up with compressed air from earth and will have a refresh system, which will refresh the air and maintain the air pressure. Humidity, Temperature will be maintained by humidifiers, heaters, fans and coolers. Light will be provided by multi-color LEDs, mostly white. Power will be supplied at first by solar power, and later by nuclear or fusion power. There will be a bull, a cow, two sheep, and two goats, two chickens, two turkeys, two fish, and two rabbits. There will also be pets, two dogs, two cats, two bunnies, etc. (and maybe a small zoo) All of this will be set up by astronauts and robots before the colonist arrive. The first colonist will be 5 fathers and 5 mothers, and 90 babies. The parents will be good parents, gardeners, farmers, zoo keepers, teachers, etc.. During the first two years an exact duplicate facility will be built on the moon. When the babies are two years old, they will move to the moon and live on the moon. Or if it is proven that they will be too young to travel to the moon than the facility on earth will be added to, to accommodate 10 more parents and 90 more babies. The two year olds would move into the new addition. Every two years the facility will be either added to, or 100 people will move to the moon. This plan will allow the kids to grow up in the isolation of the colony, and will make it easier for them to live in the isolation of the colony on the moon. And will allow them to grow up on the moon and be better able to adjust to the lower gravity on the moon, although some artificial gravity maybe eventually provided. This artificial gravity will especially be good for the parents. The kids will have everything in the facility to keep them occupied and entertained. Also they could have some books, movies, games, etc., especially adapted for them, being careful not give them anything that would make them feel isolated. After 20 years there could be 2000 people living on the moon, most of whom grew up on the moon. This program could be speeded up so in 20 years there could be 4000, 6000, or 8000 people living on the moon. This program could be simultaneously done to colonize Mars so we could have 2000 people on the Moon and Mars at the same time. For the moon we could send supplies every month, but for Mars we could only send supplies every 26 months. So I suggest we send 10, 20, or 30 rockets to Mars every 26 months all at the same time. We could have several refueling stations along the way to mars and orbiting mars so rockets could refuel along the way to mars and right before landing on mars so the empty rocket would have enough fuel to take off again, refuel in space and return to Earth. Eventually the moon and Mars could export minerals or small expensive items that were assembled on the moon or Mars, like jewelry, iphones, iwatches, etc. Or grown on the moon like caviar, marijuana, etc.

If we're able to terraform another planet any time soon then humanity is finished. The elites will leave and leave us with run away climate change, they'll take all the brightest minds. with them. We'd better hope they don't have a plan b for themselves like this.

@Doge God Whatever you have to tell yourself to avoid facing undeniable truths. There is no feasible way to have any form of animal agriculture outside of Earth's gravity well.

    • Doge God

@Andrew Johnson yeah no, it’s actually aquaculture, with hydroponics, I’m starting to think you didn’t actually watch the full video. Hydroponics and Aquaponics are two different things

    • Andrew Johnson

      Andrew Johnson

      8 dagen geleden

@Doge God Aquaponics is a method of growing plants, so that only proves my point.

@Andrew Johnson Im not sure if you watched the video but he literally mentioned aquaponics as a feasable aspect of the base.

@Doge God That's "magic wand" thinking. Real science is based on the iron laws of mathematics. It costs over $10,000 per pound just to raise anything out of the gravity well of Earth. Animals require enormous exigent inputs to survive in a hostile environment. It would take millions of times the resources and infrastructure to sustain livestock as it would to sustain plant matter. Plus plants contribute to the life support systems that sustain human life, animals would be a further burden upon it.

Errors in your video 1) Water is abundant near the equator, not just at the poles. 2) Most plants would be hydroponically grown, and perchlorates literally wash out of soil so not hard to remove at all. 3) No one is designing Mars habitats without windows, or burying them under feet of soil, you are seriously overstating radiation hazards there. Look, I get that sensationalism sells, but we need to encourage exploration, not discourage it, otherwise this is a pretty entertaining video. 👍

    • Doge God

your first two points are correct, but the radiating on mars is deadly over time, its nowhere near the levels of something like the elephants foot, but over time its can lead to health problems, settlers would be exposed to 8000 millirads per year (8 rads) while on earth we are used to .62 rads per year.

If you want to read some hard sci-fi about the colonization of Mars, I highly recommend Kim Stanley Robinson's Mars trilogy. Book 1, Red Mars, addresses all of the colonization issues in this video and more. Book 2, Green Mars, addresses societal conflicts and additional technical issues. Book 3, Blue Mars, moves into societal development and politics, both within Mars and between Mars and Earth. The entire trilogy is a very engrossing read. The science is sound for most of the trilogy and plausible for the other bits. There's romance, betrayal, intrigue, robots, a secret organization, terraforming via comet. Hands down the best hard sci-fi I've ever read.

Ivory Smith THE BIBLE SAYS: But as for the cowardly, the faithless, the detestable, as for murderers, the sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, their portion will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death.” (Revelation 21:8) THIS DOES NOT HAVE TO BE YOU. JESUS CHRIST PAID THE PENALTY FOR YOUR SINS 2,000 YEARS AGO ON THE CROSS AND IF YOU REPENT OF YOUR SINS AND ACCEPT JESUS CHRIST AS LORD AND SAVIOR THEN YOU WILL BE SAVED FROM HELL. HE LOVES YOU AND DOES NOT WANT YOU TO GO. REPENT AND TURN TO JESUS TODAY.
