I love it Trumps gone and late night comedy has nothing to talk about. Joe’s a new comedy act that the left won’t touch because of their partisan slant. Comedy needs an irreverence that the modern conservative movement cannot abide. It’s hard to be funny when you can’t lampoon religion and Donald Trump (or his slackwits).

Gutfeld couldn't even get his timing right when he read the Q-cards - He has spent too much time on Fox being sarcastic and mean spirited and it will be hard to change to satire which is intellectual humor - The guys who do it well are extremely smart, John Stewart and Bill Maher being the top of the list - The line between sarcasm and humor is very delicate and can make something really funny or just plain mean - That is why the guys that are good have impeccable taste and timing and great writers - I am not sure Fox has anyone of that caliber - I remember an interview on Bill O'Reilly when he tried to demean John Stewart and John mopped the floor with him because Bill was no match for John intellectually - It will be interesting to see if this show makes it - It may get a loyal following of people just like Gutfeld, sarcastic with no real sense of humor.

When Trevor Noah or Colbert or Stewart makes fun of someone or something you don’t get the impression that he hates the person or thing deep down on every level. When these right wingers do it you feel the seething hatred. It’s hard to see the comedy first and unexpectedly when you’re disconcerted by the palpable bile. It's no surprise that Faux News didn't learn from their first failure at comedy. The problem is they don't understand that good comedy, especially satire, is multi-layered and requires a certain amount of skepticism along with a hint of morbid cynicism in order to understand the irony of the jokes. But the Faux audience is trapped in a binary mind set. They aren't capable of seeing the layers. They only know the black and white half truths (by which I mean mostly lies) that they are already spoon fed by Faux. David said it beautifully. The only comedy here is how bad they are at comedy. The sad thing is, they would never even be able to recognize the irony in that.

It's impossible to do satire of satire and that is what they are trying to do. To a fully aware audience it comes across as "sour grapes" rather than humour.
