Doesn't the engine need a cowling to force air evenly through the fins?

I had to laugh when you started talking about having someone else build your headers lol You hand-lay your own carbon fiber make your own molds design and build your own landing gear basically build your air frame have someone else do the headers lol

Mikey, I have no idea how much Scrappy weighs in at, but I have a feeling with 780 CI up front, you're not even going to need full power to get that off the runway. Okay, accelerating vertical climbs, maybe, but getting it off the runway? Half throttle, maybe. I can't wait to see first flight, it should be awesome.

We have a shop not too far from you. We have titanium pipe, Inconel and stainless, regular mild steel, moly steel and mandrel benders. Be a neat touch putting a titanium exhaust on Scrappy. The heat coloring would be a nice touch. I’ll send Trike an email.

Mike- just had a friend gift me his old drag racing r.c. airframe. Late fall each year the club would hold what they called The Pumpkin Fly. Various events would be done, one remember able one was to pull the wing and race down the runway. Wild to say the least. Said airframe was built for a .40 glow engine, so.........maybe a .120 four stroke would be better eh? Sound familiar by chance? You taxiing (2i’s?). Anyway Back to building wings!

I would put a cotter-pin in that pivot bolt, those nylock's either wont hold over time or melt. If it's tight it wont move. If it isn't, it'll vibrate over time and rotate and wear through..From my keyboard anyways.

These bush planes look so funny to me. Not a pilot, all I flown in was a jetliner and 2 Cessnas, so 0 experience with bush planes. One thing I am sure of, one does not have "routine" flights in bush planes :). Just curious here - I would assume this must be a high maintenance job due to rough conditions, how frequent are accidents and breakdowns when operating these planes in remote areas?

Mike, not sure you'll ever get around to reading this and my only interest is you safety; but I must say "Please don't use that prop in the air". There is a reason they use those props on airboats one is for thrust an the other is for braking. In an airplane; can you imagine the drag that the prop will induce if you have an engine out condition; even with the engine running reducing the throttle will induce a log of drag. I suspect you will have a difficult time getting the power setting to keep decent profile on line. If you decide to use it; be very cognizant of possibilities on the downside of using such a prop.

would be nice for Garmin to come out with a trend tracker ,where if it noticed a pressure or temp change faster than normal , Its something instructors mentioned,, Is that gas gauge moving the same amount this last ten minutes as it did the previous ten.. Cant wait to see your brother "volunteer" to be out front using a strobex to balance the prop. My friend did a kit planes 540 turbo one,, and demanded a 1 ton as an anchor vs a 1/2 ton... Ever look at the MS21042L or 43's nuts for the exhaust parts? they work well.
