  Because these vehicles have different requirements, rally raid cars are focused towards endurance and reliability in multi-day events, Trophy Trucks are mainly focused on speed and on single-day events but not so much on the other aspects. Also because Dakar has different technical specifications that vehicle manufacturers have to comply with. You should watch the video when Nasser and Toby Price went and raced in the Baja 1000, that video shows the amount of skill and speed that Dakar drivers have, even compared to their Trophy truck counterparts

Great advert for Toyota Hilux. Only true vehicle that is taken from the road models and adapted to the rally, as opposed to some custom built buggies called Peugeot's and Mini's. Wheres the manufacturers??? Wheres the cars that look like our road going models? Good going Hilux.

  Sorry to disappoint you, but that Hilux is also a prototype. They belong to T1 class (prototypes), and there are a few subclasses for 2-wheel drive, 4-wheel drive, etc. You will find production vehicles only in T2 class, but you won't find them in this video!
