Good luck convincing someone to spend an indeterminate amount of time serving as a politician when they were probably happy living their life without that hassle. And if you let people opt out then bias is introduced.

Love this! Lottocracy? Sounds like it might be better than democracy, where up to 50% of voices can simply be dismissed. I'd love to see Sociocracy instead - where decision-makers are nominated (not voted) based on how well they fit the role, not how much money they have. It's a much different process, and would mean that those elected to roles have interest and expertise for making decisions in the area they're elected to. I don't know about others, but I'd rather be making decisions about things I know something about, than be randomly selected for decisions I'd first have to learn a lot about.

A great video, but I feel like it misses some points on the structural problems we face in addressing these issues. Sure, different democratic systems could improve our social decision-making, but what about those large corporations Michael mentioned who, well, wouldn't want to give up their direct access to the reigns of power? Or the tremendous wealth that they can gain through fossil fuels and other ecologically degrading industries? I would like to know if Gates' book actually talks about what political steps can be taken right to address the questions of political power to solve the problem, because they seem just as important as having the reasoning capacity to solve the problem.

Say Dear Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner, and I ask for Your forgiveness. I believe You died for my sins and rose from the dead. We all make one megalatic organism, eventually ending up with the only the following scenarios. 1. True, True 2. True, False, 3. Flase, True 4. False, False. Whether we think that we are in truth and going to next truth or we are in false going to next truth that out come is not derived from us in the end since there is also truth to false and false to false. It means, it is derived only by truths and falses that are unfathomable and our species strictly digesting it the way it is and dying finally as a whole ...

"We will someday be the ancients". So that means we are responsible for the decisions that are made right now and how they came to be. So we should all be involved in some kind of activism or public discourse. Otherwise we are allowing the powers to be (ie. Trump, Biden) to decide what we represent. People might say, they had a choice to create energy using Thorium but instead chose to ravage the earth burning the magical substances oil and gas to create electric to fuel to fuel electric cars. Not using abundant resources created conflict and.... slavery for labor.

Many people engaging in the public discourse are being outright prohibited from participation in the modern public square. Seems like there's a much more pressing issue of a divergence of values between the ruling class and the average person, not to mention the values on which the very country was founded. It's become a divided and conquered hellscape in many ways. If the two sides cannot reconcile, or are fooled into mutual hatred by a hostile media, what's the point? A world modeled on Brave New World and 1984 are rapidly coming into focus.

Here's a mind F for you. If we destroy the planet, that's bad, right? Pollution is bad. Anything that leads to more trees being on fire, loss of atmosphere, the evaporating of our oceans, the death of all life in the sea.... these are bad things, yes? Okay, good. Is the sun *_bad?_* The sun is going to grow in size one day, and it's going to envelop the earth and kill every living thing remaining on it. The sun will catch trees on fire, blow away the atmosphere, evaporate the oceans, and kill all life in the sea.... all of which we've established as things that are bad.... if *_we_* do them. What's so wrong about doing something that's going to be done anyway? While everyone can realize that the sun won't do these things for a very long time (we hope), why do we forgive the sun for what it will do? Because it's in the sun's nature? Are animals not nature? Are humans not animals? Everything we have done to the planet, for better or for worse, was natural. We just don't like seeing particular types evidence of ourselves where we don't think it should be. If you really think about it, everything from our laptops, to our water cups, to our dishwashers.... it's all "litter." We simply have these things placed where we accept them, but their impact on the earth is no different whether they sit in the kitchen, or get buried in the dirt, or float on the ocean. The sun is going to kill us all anyway.

@98Zai That's because you don't consider their slavering happening in developed countries, you consider the fact that the poor there has more comfort as evidence of freedom, while to me they are the less free people in the world, they are literally cattle, when I referrer to exploitation I was not talking about natural resources but humans one, look all developed nation, the US for example, IQ is dropping, life expectancy dropping, even the freedom they were allowed being eroded, my argument seems reasonable to me, the new imperialism and slavery are more complex, and less apparent, people are being literally extinct with noticing, and Bill Gates openly talks about his plan to decrease birth rates on Africa, with the same argument of helping them, stop being that naive, do your research.

    • 98Zai

@Mtpimenta ressurection A person who mines precious metals for cellphones in Africa makes $5 a day. A day spent doing extremely dangerous, medieval mining. Developing nations are being VERY exploited by our economic system. It's a system that is designed to exploit. Miners in Africa should be paid the value of the metals they extract. Will that ever happen? I still don't understand what "The argument" is.

    • Mtpimenta ressurection

@98Zai They are using heavy intrusive behavioral engineering in the population of wealthy countries right now, something that totally opposed what was supposed to be democracy something emergent, if they can control 300 million people opinion, they could make they vote, accept, finance anything, including the exploiting of developing nation in the name of empathy and understanding, I don't trust those people for a second, in the last 10 years every time someone says that they are empathetic, I can see the truth behind, just like I can see the acting of Bill gates.

Crazy, I know people who can reason with the words of Hitler, but once this guy mentions Bill Gates it's "omg u lost all my respect and ur opinions are instantly invalid". I don't fw billionaires either but damn wtf is Gates to u? Not Hitler?
