    This is old but I figured I’d add that in the beginning with the weird salt step it’s because salt will kill yeast. You should never put salt and yeast together like how he put the sugar on the yeast. Juuuuust incase anyone wanted to know. And if he had instant yeast he wouldn’t have needed to activate it. Love you and Jenna. Miss you guys together on the interweb 🥺

    this is so perfect because my mother has celiac and i'm vegan so if i'm making it for myself, i can switch out the gluten free dough for regular dough, and if im making it for my mom, she can switch out the vegan ingredients, and if we're both making it for us, the recipe is right here! thanks so much julien!

    Julien, coat them bad boys (the dough balls) with oil before putting them in the fridge and you may get less cracking.

    the dough is supposed to sit at room temperature overnight not in the fridge, as the yeast needs warmth to react and create the mechanism for the dough to rise. you’ll get much fluffier dough this way. Happy cooking!!

    You add the salt in later because if you dumped it in like the sugar on top of the yeast you would kill the yeast

    The reason why you add the salt after whisking the dry ingredients is because of the active dry yeast (yeast is some kind of fungus) meaning if you put salt on it directly it will kill it but if you put sugar it acts out as food to the active dry yeast. Yes there are different types of yeasts.

    Salt and yeast can’t tough other wise the yeast doesn’t work. Ideally the recipe should say salt before other ingredients as it’s easier that way! Just to let you know why the alt is added at a different time to the yeast etc!

    This is really late but there is a reason why you couldn't put the salt right away and it's because salt kills yeast. If you put them together at the same time, your bread won't rise properly.

    I'm so glad he followed the instructions, because salt deactivates yeast. so if the yeast isnt covered by the flour then it changes the texture like 100%

    Whenever i make a pizza, i just use double 0 flour, olive oil, active dry yeast, sugar, salt and water. Is there like a replacement for double 0 flour to accommodate gluten free pizza?
