It's like a spaceship for sharks.

"Life support system" were the three key words that convinced me to do a video about an aquarium. Because yes: behind the scenes at The Deep, an aquarium in Hull, there's a life support system, and it deserves that name.
Thanks to all the team at The Deep! More about them: www.thedeep.co.uk/ or on their channel: nlcameras.info

I guess technically it's more of a "space station for sharks", or "space station for all sorts of marine life", but that doesn't sound quite as catchy.

Fascinating! I realized there were quite a few processes to keep an aquarium up and running, but I didn't know the specific details regarding those processes. Very neat 👍

I really wish I knew what on earth they mean by school for gifted axolotls. I mean what are those axolotls up to? what do you have to do as an axolotl to prove that you are gifted? Where are the non-gifted axolotls. This may be my Attention Deficit but I have not been able to take in any other information from this video since seeing that sign.

Hey Tom, can you make a video on the navigation satellite system "Galileo". A system developed by ESA to compete with the GPS from US? As far as I know it is supposed to be way more precise and also more accessible for private people / businesses. Sounds like a cool thing and brings the European countries closer together since it has people working from all across the EU and companies from all the countries contributing to its development. I really like it's idea and I am even considering just doing my master to work for ESA and hopefully be able to contribute to this project in the future or a new one. I just really really like the idea of people from different nationalities coming together to create something to make everyone's lives better, even when those countries were at war not even 100 years ago. Thanks :)

Damn, top notch video!! I always enjoy your videos, short and full of information. Just to the point! Though I would have loved an explanation on why the microbes where exposed to UV-light. My 'slightly educated' guess is, that this is how they dispose of them. EDIT: By 'slightly educated' I mean the fact that UV-light is non-preferrable to most organisms on our planet (the atmosphere of the earth absorbs most of the shorter wavelengths - one of the keywords here is 'ozone'), which is why we humans have a chance of getting skin cancer by being exposed to the sun for too long. In short: UV-light alters our DNA, which can lead to cancer when our immune system can't dispose of those altered cells.

Your missing out on the Atlanta aquarium, its like this but easily 10 times the amount of pipes and tanks, theres actually over 70 miles of pipe in the Georgia aquarium and the building has more than 11 million gallons of water in it and 1.5 million pounds of salt to go with it, the whole building is an engineering marvel
