That was quite an afternoon..... one of the husbands flagged us down around 2 pm and said they were stuck towards lava point. We were heading into the cabin on snowmobiles. I had been watching Matt's videos the day before at home and thought we can call Matt. When we called Winder towing they said Matt had the snowcat in tow and were heading to Brianhead so no luck. We flagged down a passing by truck with a local gent from Hurricane "Clay" and he was going to try to yank them out. It was so icy.... 3" of snow on 6" of solid ice. Clay's winch was smoking and trying to pull with the snowmobile was not very productive. Clay went back to the main road for cell reception and tried to find other to help. We headed back to the cabin to drop our supplies and make a plan to shuttle the families to a nearby warm cabin. To our surprise when we got back the headlights of the Bombi were coming down Lava Point Road and the families had the biggest smiles on their faces. So glad Matt decided to test out the snowcat on Kolob and not head to Brianhead. Great vids!

Great vid, remember seeing a gear oil or additive on Deboss garage you can use that resists water mixing that they use in skidsteer drive boxes due to seals constantly leaking. 😷

Keep the battery in the cab so it can stay warm and therefore last longer without replacement or energy loss

What was that coming out from under that thing... Was you down there milking her!? That stuff was emulsified. How could water be getting into your differential? Maybe snow is getting piled up on a hole somewhere. No matter if you got a sunroof or not, nothing designed to hold oil, should be open to water getting into it.

that things is a money make fuel line oil lines should be change when they start to fell hard or evey year raditor hose after you change put the old one in the basket on top and change out the fam belt carry them in case your break a belt and blow a hose it good idea to carry the old hoses on the road and carry about 5 gallon of water all these can save your butt

how about a muffler exhaust system. theres enough room by the engine block to fit exhaust tubing to make it more quiet.

Looking at this, you guys should really look into getting a Sherp. A big, yellow Sherp would be awesome content for sure.

You mentioned the gearbox filling with water. Is the drain for the sunroof connected to the vent of the gearbox? Something to check considering the other cobbled repairs done on the machine.

Check that it's not a bad hydraulic oil cooler that is getting coolant into the system. I'm assuming there would be a oil to water heat exchanger in the system somewhere.

Get a gear box like that filled with chocolate milk fill it with diesel and run it for a minute or 2 drain it then fill with diesel again drain it then fill with your lubricant of choice. Works great for transfer cases, diffs basically anything gear case related

Californians in the snow. Reminds me of being stationed in Ft. Sam Houston in 1990. Got up,one morning to maybe 1/26th inch layer of snow that melted as the sun rose. San Antonio was shut down for the day.
