This is amazing, I used the same things most pro fighters use, of course not as good and graceful as them, but I had a good general idea and this really makes me proud and I want to train even more and learn even more because you can learn almost infinite amount of things if you look deep enough.

Hoost was always impressive to watch in K-1 during the late 90’s. I was a bit of an Andy Hug fan back then and remember how he struggled against Hoost. When Hoost got the decision he would do his little victory dance.. I hated it. But it comes as no surprise that he ended up doing as well as he did by the time he retired. Those leg kicks were scary.

I thought a leg-kick knockout sounded like the most insane thing right until you said he got knockouts just from how he checked his opponent's kicks... WUT? Imagine that. You go for a leg kick and end up knocked out without even being hit. That's insane. This guy is practically the kickboxing equivalent of Ali, in terms of truly perfecting an unexpected and dangerous technique.

Quite the fighter ! Commentator's understanding of Physics needs more study though: turning your foot up (especially at end of kick) does not magically add speed or more power. Another Physics lesson is that crouching does not add power - turning his body alignment into the kick angle does help with power. A variety of martial arts teach leg checking not simply as a block but as an offensive (painful) technique by using the bone. I would say Hoot knew how to effectively kick with his shin bone, into the most ideal places on the leg, and used his own body balance and weight to that end.
