@Cepedo thermal shrinking and expansion? Make a hole a tad too small and then chill the sword and maybe even warming up the stone. It is possible that this may take several attempts due to the forces involved cracking the stone

The success of Mythbusters is because the show was aloud to evolve organically. No fake acting, no fake dramas. Just good organic natural growth. Best show on TV for years.

I bet if he could change something it would be a larger budget. There is no formula for success? But that is not true. >.> Get great personalities who do goofy shit and boom! I mean it's why people love the old Top Gear and now Grand Tour. It's why we loved Mythbusters.

Mythbusters was truly the best show to have ever aired on television in my humble opinion. I have very fond memories watching it way back in 2003 as a kid in middle school all the way up to as an adult. It got me interested in science, and gave me the ability to question things using the scientific method. For that I am very grateful. I truly believe that show played a big role in shaping who I am today. Also, RIP Grant. What a legend.

Lots of people built heavier than air machines that they were sure would fly. They had a theory, and they were certain that their theory was correct, even though they had not done any prior testing. They committed a lot of time and money to build their full size "airplane", and they all failed in one way, or another. The Wright brothers took a different approach. They gathered all the information they could find that other people had accumulated on flight. Then they tested that information with models. Whatever new ideas they came up with themselves, they also tested with models. They built, and flew kites to test their wing warping idea. They made tiny wing sections and checked them on the front of their bicycle, and then inside a wind tunnel they built later on. They even built, and tested, full sized gliders. And after all of that lead up, they finally built an engine and a plane to put it in. And that plane barely, barely, flew. It was barely controllable, and only had enough power to fly at sea level, in freezing cold temps, and high winds. It flew enough for them to be encouraged that they were on the right track. And then they built another one, with some of the earlier problems being fixed. Over 2 years, they continued to marginally improve things, but they never improved their engine. They didn't want to take the time on an engine because they saw that lots of other people were constantly developing engines. The Wrights focused on developing their craft's lift, and controls, instead. Because of that, they didn't have a powerful enough engine to get airborne. They used a heavy weight lifted up a tower, to boost their plane down their short "runway". I went through all of that to show that there actually is a formula for increasing your chances of success. But even that method does does not insure that you will be successful, because some endeavors may not ever be possible. But, out-of-the-blue, untried ideas, are much more likely to lead to failure, no matter how certain a person is that they will work.

Now I wonder whether that show Adam was asked to do narration for actually ended up airing, and if so, who replaced him and what episode in particular had the offending line. I am curious whether the explanation would make sense in the context of visuals where the 22 degree angle is shown and perhaps even animated.

There may be no recipe, but there has to be key quality ingredients. Your knowledge, charisma, delivery, enthusiasm, passion, a desire to articulate and yet keep it fun... come on, those are key ingredients. And someone has structured it somewhere, cut & edited footage keeping it lively rather than flat. It’s just one of those things maybe. Throw some stuff together and somehow a gem falls out. And it truly is a great success when someone finds themselves doing something they love or fall into loving. Different things float different peoples boats. And to think that Adam etc managed to land MB and just ride that wave, with all the odd bonus things that spin off that ride.... awesome. You got to be happy. I think Grant would be proud of himself too.

Mythbusters was an awesome show that was a part of my families life and the way my son grew up. We all would sit down and watch episodes and we watched it all from beginning to end. And how could you now think of changing what obviously worked and was what worked. Has to be very difficult to imagine do anything different. I can say friend the bottom of my heart, thank you very much for being a part of our family. My son is now 22 in graduate school for his masters and still watches all your NLcameras videos and mythbusters was a part of his learning and growing up. I know there were many things he did throughout high school that were direct inspirations from the show. I helped him work on many and that’s the beauty of it all is that the show had things that everyone in the family could be interested in and we all , me my wife and son, looked forward to new episodes and were so bummed out when it ended and then got excited when we saw anything spring up about mythbusters, there was a show that was like a trial period for a new crew of mythbusters or something and we had thought the show was coming back, with you in it and maybe some other members of the original crew but then it never happened. It became apparent that it had run its course and then got happy again when we saw your NLcameras channel and looked forward to seeing your next projects/ builds. Thanks so much for being a part of our family and I’m glad things went the way they did and I wouldn’t change a thing. All of our hearts were broken when hearing the news about Grant , as it would if we had heard something happened to any of you . When you watch people for many years and get used to seeing them and getting to know them through television you feel like you know someone, in a weird way. It just one of those things that effects people’s lives. I wonder if you guys think of the impact you had on your viewers, at the time, now I’m sure you have a good idea of the impact you all had on so many people, and to impact and touch so many lives in a positive way is truly incredible and a gift. How many people, shows can claim the same? I can tell you for us there isn’t many at all . The show was a special thing, a special time that was meant to be when it was. I don’t know that it would have the same impact today or not but wish there were some shows on that had something similar although glad to see how things are changing and NLcameras is becoming so big and providing so much opportunity for the regular person who may have watched you for years and didn’t have the ability to become an actor or reality star on television now can have a platform they can do things on and if people like watching it that’s all it takes to become somewhat of a celebrity, it makes it more accessible to so many more people and broadens the scope of things we can see and learn about. Thanks so much Adam for giving the world something so special , truly a gift to so many and have shaped so many careers and given so many the years of enjoyment you did. I can’t thank you enough for being a part of my family’s lives. Thanks and look forward to seeing your videos. Take care and have a great New year, I hope it’s a better year for us all. Take care and thanks again for sharing your life and your knowledge with us all!

Could not read out something you do not understand. That alone sums up why I give so many thumbs down to some half-arsed channels and why I loved Mythbusters... The show started with what was expected and gave what actually happened before going into severe overkill. The thumbs down channels?? You must have been on at least one of them, the voice over person is so full of energy. Then you realise they have never seen or even know what the item they are describing is.

Not gonna lie, even though this is an artifact of its time, If there's anything I could change about mythbusters, it'd be the way it was edited, it was very much commercial oriented so there was a huge amount of "coming up next, Tory falls over", 2 seconds before Tory falls over, it cuts to an outro only to return with a different segments, and Tory does not fall over until 10 minutes later. There were some efforts of people on Reddit doing clean edits of Mythbusters that made the myths chronological but also end up being barely 60% the length of the as aired duration without taking ads into account. I also wish there were more focus on the builds as the seasons progressed, there were more emphasis on explosions than the making of, but I get why it had to be that way for entertainment reasons etc.

For the truck jack-knifing, it's when you're reversing and turning a tractor-trailer if the angle between the cab and the trailer gets to less than a certain amount of degrees (straight being 180), it's impossible to get out of that without driving forwards. This angle varies though based on the steering dynamics and length of the tractor.

I always believed Adam and Jamie did not have enough screen time with Grant, Tori, and Kari. I wanted to see them do more myths as a group when I watched this as a young teen.

I'm late to the party so to say. I didn't know grant passed. He was an amazing mind. I looked up to him and all of the mythbuster. You guys are the sole reason I found science fun. The real world applications of science is what motivated to pursue a science based career.

Young Adam was a douche. Watch the three second memory goldfish clip. He has grown up since then but its not sincere to say he wouldn't change anything.

@VoltisArt to answer your silly question, I think the learning experience of life is valuable. Even for goldfish. In this clip he reinforces that the stars were the core of the show. If he and his decisions were organically ingrained as part of the show then he should accept that some of those choices, where animals died, upon reflection, were wrong. Maybe he just forgot or as I said, didn't care back then.

So you don't think the learning experience of life is something valuable? He's not ever said _he_ didn't change. The question and the answer are about whether he would change something about the show, not if he's ever changed something about himself. We all change and that's life. The goal is to make more of those changes for the better.

Perhaps in a sense you were already some type of a NLcameras show before this was a thing. I think this type of format really appeals to people.

If you could have known the success of Mythbusters before it happened (known the unknowable) it would have ended existence.

Let me say that your intellectual honesty puts you far ahead of mere "smartness". That alone is the basis for the scientific process and scientific research as we know it today. It is followed by peer review, hopefully by peers who will bring the same integrity to the process. I miss MB and shows like it- so much that I have nearly abandoned TV, network or cable either one.

Mythbusters was basically a youtube show that was before youtube. Especially the early years when they had no plan and no funding.

You know, I am willing to bet, the reason channels such as The Hacksmith, Colin Furze, and more have exploded is in part the huge gaping hole left for our younger culture by this show-stopping. Top Gear and Mythbusters was literally my childhood from age 6-16... 22 now. (Obviously, Mythbusters didn't come out in 2006, when I caught wind of it, I couldn't get enough. )

This was a rather strange question. If you already knew your show is going to be a success, then why change it and risk it? It's a bit of a time traveler's conundrum.

Listening to Adam's voice almost break when he talked about Grant made me sniffle. Grant was a hoopy frood. And if he didn't know where his towel was, it was probably Tori's fault.

The success of MB is based on the impression of being genuine. MB largely kept the credibility of the Discovery network (meaning sister channels too) at a time when "but aliens" (said by the guy with a Centauri haircut) was a punch line to the entire science themed shows on TV at the time. Might I suggest that the MB family get together and write a compilation book about "The accidental TV stars" where you each describe a half dozen or so incidents where you realized that you had a bit of fame?
