One thing: Verner Van Brahn was forced, by the Nazis to contribute his scientific knowledge; he wasn’t the one making the horrible calls of human misery and torture. Had he, along with all the other scientists said “no”, they’d be in the place of the forced labor, if not a bullet in the head. To say the Americans whitewashed the crimes of the Nazis is a ghastly and dangerous misrepresentation of facts.

National socialist Germany had some of the strictest animal rights laws in history. Your title is misleading bc the nazis would not have used animals to do dangerous tests. The Americans stole the science and the scientists along with over 760,000 other patents after the war. The americans used monkeys to test the space capability of the stolen rockets. Great video keep them coming!

The americans never tried to go to space till the soviets did their move. The V2 was not seeing as that long range because they did not need an intercontinental artillery. The Soviets do need an long distance " artillery". Othar than that, the russians developed the formula that calculate the mass(energy) needed to set a rocket in orbit in the 19 century. So, they went there first because they wanted it first. And the audio 10:21 looks fraud! They do not have mics to record with that quality... Trying to write history...

another of your informative, enjoyable and well constructed documentaries; keep up the good work! One passing assertion however that I must challenge: in what possible way could Miss Baker's safe return from space have been "for the mutual benefit of (man) and animals" (sic)? From the point of view of the animals themselves, they were co-opted into a cruel and traumatic experiment far beyond their ability to comprehend, with little chance of survival, enduring rigid constraint, massive g-forces and very probably terrifying distress that we can barely imagine. Any notion of 'informed consent' would be ridiculous; the award of a human-bestowed 'animal bravery award' is about as absurd and contemptibly anthropomorphic as it gets. Clearly these creatures unwittingly and unwillingly paved the way for successful human spaceflight, but let's not console our consciences with any silly value judgements, or cloud our actions with a noble gloss of 'benefit for all'. What these scientists learned was of no use whatsoever to rhesus monkeys, or for that matter all non-humans. We did it because we could, for our own exclusive benefit. Period. The monkeys didn't get a say in the matter: they were merely victims.

And here's a little not known fact that Vincent Justice Beernelli who won all three of the 50 bomber directive competition ; and his airplane company were put out of business because not knowing anything about politics Roosevelt killed the plane because one of the backers was Arnold Pew from sun oil who had who had fabricated lies against Roosevelt in the 42 elections Roosevelt killed the plane . Also Mr bernelli never got paid for three of his patents one was retracting landing gear the other little wing tips that you see nowadays on the plains and a flying fuselage which is more safer than any plane ever made goes twice the distance carrying three times the payload on half the fuel . Another little known person Edward Leedskalnin who had invented anti-gravity device ! And with the technology that we had we never used we just never showed it in America if push come to shove you would have seen a plane 10 times bigger than a 747 fly straight up in the air and would have wiped out all of Germany and come home again safely hidden with weaponry far worse than the atomic bombs !

In the movie Independence day Judd Hirsch has the line when they're flying to area 51 do you really think they paid $900 for a hammer. That's area 51 and Roswell and Rachel is where in other places in the United States where all this high-tech stuff and if it had come push the shove it would have came out and I tell you this Germany would be a desert if it had. A vast wasteland in Europe would have been Germany !!! And why I do not know why they never put Russia the Soviet Union in its place when we could have easily done it not with troops but with technology that no one has ever seen only imagine in the movies
