Pink and dangerous Mosquito zapper revisit

I've looked at these before, but they seem to evolve with time or maybe come from different manufacturers.
The English translation is gloriously terrible with non-English words thrown into the mix. It appears to have evolved from older fluorescent lamp based versions.
These things are supposed to lure flying bugs to zap them. They claim that it attracts mosquitoes, but it's usually just ordinary sun seeking flies they attract if at all with their low intensity LEDs.
If you like the reverse engineering videos, then subscribing to the channel will give you a regular supply of similar videos.
The grid is referenced to the mains supply and fully accessible with little inquisitive fingers, so this is not safe for kids. With more effort it's accessible to adult fingers too, and holds a charge when unplugged.
Here's a link to one that was made from completely random capacitors, and exploded:-
nlcameras.info/wiki/fWemm66YsYmxx4Y/video
If you enjoy these videos you can help support the channel with a dollar for coffee, cookies and random gadgets for disassembly at:-
www.bigclive.com/coffee.htm
This also keeps the channel independent of NLcameras's advertising algorithms allowing it to be a bit more dangerous and naughty.

The worst broken English I ever saw on a battery-operated toy, seemed to have been written by someone who learned English at a Renaissance Festival. It was Elizabethan Chinglish. Every sentence began with “Forsooth”.

@bigclivedotcom Actually, it was a military “Paratrooper” doll dressed in camo. It had a parachute that you hung from a hook, and a propellor that made it spin around beneath the parachute. It was powered by two AA batteries that were inserted into the torso of the doll (I am not making this up.) through its butt.

AC mains is described as RMS (root mean square). It's the average voltage of the sinewave. Multiplying it by 1.41 gives the peak voltage, which is what a capacitor would charge to.

I have the same product in blue. I picked it up cheap and thought it would be a great alternative to chemicals. It really didn't work that great. After a year it zapped one fly. I found out that mosquitos are attracted to carbon dioxide and human pheromones thereby rendering this thing useless. Maybe it could have zapped flies if it had a bait tray.

Mosquitoes are attracted to both infrared and carbon dioxide, but not in equal measure; they will home in on any source of carbon dioxide that is more than marginal (like a human or a sufficiently large dog) and completely ignore any nearby infrared sources. This is why dry ice works a treat to lure the bloodthirsty little bastards away from humans and pets.
