I'm reading "A Thousand Splendid Suns" which takes place over about 3 generations from the 70's to 2003 in Afghanistan and a lot of the stuff in this video and the stories people were telling are very similar to the book.

with afghan roots, i am just disappointed in my people. all the buildings you see were built hundreds of years ago by the great empires. corruption and laziness for decades! still stuck in an old old era! hopefully one day afghanistan will be a modern civilized country

this world has become so brainwashed like wow. we americans always think that afghanistan is this really bad place and stuff like that but we never see through that to the people. the people are so nice and humble like even if their whole country is in a war, they couldn't be happier. this gave me a whole new perspective on a country that my school described as "disgusting, dangerous, etc". wow just wow. thank you yes theory, this content is absolutely amazing.

You are an amazing person for taking that risk and leap of faith! I agree with you and believe that Afghanistan has obviously had more than its share of hardship but it is the people of the country who feel this the most. Your bravery and courage to explore the country and its people where possible is amazing and I hope people who watch this video realize there are still people with positivity and hope and that is the foundation for a turn around of Afghanistan. I hope the school brings some encouragement to the children of Afghanistan to make a brighter future for everyone. My heart goes out to everyone in this video. Truly amazing. ❤❤❤❤❤❤

Aghanistan is the crossroad of the silk road, there are people there who look Caucasian possibly because they are descendants of the ancient Greeks/macedonians. Then you have people who look more Asian because their ancestors possibly migrated from the east, and of course you have people who look Persian/Iranian or a mixture of all three.

US intervention in Afghanistan did not start in 2001. It actually started in 1978. Back then the US invoked the sleeping devil inside Islamic ideology to beat USSR. This proved to be very costly: million of Afghan lives, many Soviet, US lives. The aftermath of that episode starting in 1978 is still reshaping Islamic lands and beyond. The loss of once vibrant Afghanistan, rejuvenated rise of political Islam across the world, 9/11, 2001 re-intervention, the 'war against terrorism', countries like India getting against Muslims etc. all stemmed from that fateful event of 1978.

My only cause against this is putting Noor in danger. What's stopping some corrupt Taliban pr*ck from seeing this video, not liking what Noor said about the state of the Taliban, and doing something unspeakable to him? I hope he'll be okay, maybe an update from time to time would be nice.

These travel videos area nice reminder that even though we hear about all these bad things from these distant countries, most people are kind and just want to live their lives. Its easy to act like a whole country is evil, but its always just specific governments or groups.
