I always felt LG as a brand was weak. It never felt as premium as Samsung or Apple. It had a cheap, and low quality reputation when it was Lucky Goldstar that for me, they never shook off. Don't get me wrong. It's kit absolutely wasn't cheap and low quality anymore. However the brand hasn't ever shook that off, especially in Europe.

I think reviewers like you did have something to do with LG’s demise, whether you like to admit it or not. Tech reviewers - especially you - have not given LG a fair shot. Case in point, the G8 was a solid phone, albeit with a few gimmicks. But those gimmicks didn’t ruin the experience. Shitting on a phone just because it “didn’t excite you” isn’t good enough of a reason. You made a 45 min video about the latest iPhone six months after release, which isn’t something you’ve ever done for LG, or any other brand for that matter. You did the same thing with the 11 Pro last year. Why not do the same thing for Androids; what’s so special about the iPhone that it deserves an almost hour long video six months after release ( I use an iPhone, btw)? LG might have dug its own grave, but you did have something to do with it, however small a role, because your videos always drew people away from the brand, never towards it.

smartphones are a brutal market. Everyone other than Apple struggles. Samsung included. (just look at the discounts they were offering with s21, on release.) Moto and Nokia are ghosts of former selves. HTC - which made as good if not better phones than LG at one point, gone. And now, LG gone. My current phone is an LG phone (G7)- while it's a good phone, and it's served me well for almost 3 years now, their software updates are terrible. (Still on Android 9) I'll never buy a Xiaomi or Oppo phone. Which leaves Samsung, Pixel, and Oneplus. Or the fruit company phone. :)

Don't understand why people feel bad about LG going bust. If you felt that bad then buy their damn phones. Support LG. They went down because few bought their phones. People buying Apple and Samsung phones now and that's it. I love Sony/LG over the former any day personally for phones. Unlike the fakes out there I actually have phones from both Sony/LG. Whats funny is I don't even care what a phone is called. I like a phone for what it is not the name. And Apple is no better on naming either. Max, pro, that gets confusing as well not sure why people thing ohh it's easy to understand. Naaaw only the number after the word iphone is what's easy to understand after that it's confusing.

This is a well-done and fair and honest review. However, I have been a huge fanboy of LG at least since my LG V20. I loved my LG V40 as much if not more despite the loss of a replaceable battery. I'm currently using an LG V60 that only disappoints me in that the on-screen fingerprint sensor is nowhere near as handy or accurate as the back fingerprint sensor is. I'd still love to use the LG Wing as my last LG smartphone until it's no longer supported rather than switch to any of the other manufacturers for Android now. I especially hate Samsung almost as much as I HATE iPhone.

in my opinion LG died because of: 1) Poor marketing in some regions 2) LG's old and new naming convention never got clear to general consumer (V series, G series, K series, Q series) creating too much overlaping products. 3) Very few and slow updates. Most of the phones received only a major update in 2-3 years. 4) A lot of people never get rid of from their minds the "BOOT LOOP PROBLEMS" in some phones in 2017-2018 (TRUE IDIOTS!!!!) 5) Some phones were a complete disaster in sales (G5, V30-V60, Velvet, Wing). LG Chocolate, NEXUS, G2, G3 and V10 saved the day 6) Competition eat them alive in marketing strategy (Samsung, Xiaomi, Huawei). LG lost almost half of their market share in 5 years. GOOD BYE OLD FRIEND!!!!! I'LL MISS ROCKING THE AVENUE WITH MY V20,G3 & G5!!!!!!!!

Moto and Nokia are ghosts of former selves. :)

They could have concentrated one or two markets atleast... Shutting down is huge waste of money and years of R and D is dusted for nothing... How could LG forgot to copy samsung's business strategy.. Colossal disaster..

As an ex (nearly a year sober) IV speedball addict Ive always wondered how those IR hand vein sensors would work with an active drug user who uses their hand veins a lot.

I owned a few LGs and I hate their software, it just feels cheap, their whole phones feel cheap. I ran my last LG over with my M3 just to see if it was durable, it was not and I felt no sadness loosing it.

Damn, just as I was considering switching to an LG wing as my daily driver. Is it still to late for that?

One factor still very important in a successful product; quality, durability. LG phones are really innovative and high tech but they are not durable.

I'm going to VERY much miss LG! I hate Samsung almost as much as I hate iPhone. {Samsung seems like a knockoff homage to Apple for Android users}

The LG V20 is unironiclly the peak of smartphone design. Change my mind.
