    Lefse isn't a specific type of thing that has to have potatoes, there are tons that doesn't use it at all. It's just a category of food that covers some types of soft flat bread. A tortilla would be considered a lefse in Norway. It looks like you made lompe, aka potetkake or potatolefse.

    your supposed to roll the lefse onto the stick and then roll it off to the griddle, thats how you transfer the lefse.

      Well he has celiac disease so he’d literally get extremely sick and damage his intestines if he didn’t make gluten-free recipes. He’s not setting the bar high if he has such a specific dietary restriction.

    Okay, 0:20 -- haven't even started, but I have to say: No need for negativity! If it's great, that's great, and if it fails, you learned. Anything worth doing is worth doing badly until you can do it WELL! After seeing you add more flour (I literally face-palmed and said "Dude, NOOO" out loud), you need to get yourself a pastry/cake lifter if you're gonna do much gluten-free baking.They're pretty cheap and it'll make your life easier.

    My mom uses mash potatoes but they have to be left in the fridge over night and just a smooth rolling pin. But we have a lefse grill and a collection of fancy lefse like paddle spatula things

    you should try Norwegian pancakes! Its almost the same and so good. We also use butter and sugar on it, or jam. Basically the same thing!!

    flour helps make dough less sticky, but if you add too much flour you lose the stretch and the dough cracks too much. if the dough is too wet add a little flour, if it's too dry add a little water. hope this helps

    The a in lefsa is pronounced closer to the a in alarm. Or as lefse with the Es sounding like the e in the. Lol. I know I'm late, but I'd like to see you make this again, but use it with cream cheese and salmon. Or as we usually do, while eating hotdogs. We don't do hot dog buns that often comparatively.

    YOOOOO we make this every Christmas! My uncle and grandpa prepare the potato mixture the day before, and then my cousins, myself, my dad, uncles, aunts and my grandma gather in the basement with 2 big «takker», and we make lefse until the inside of our lungs are coated with flour and the air in the basement is foggy with flour.

    I've been making lefse with my family since I was a toddler, and I just want to say this was an absolute joy to watch! some tips and fun facts: -We always use the red potatoes. Honestly not sure why but I know my grandma would never dream of doing otherwise -Probably one reason why you haven't found recipes with exact amounts is because its a bit of an "add to taste" thing. Depends on what you want the finished product to be like. In my family its all about getting it super thin and smooth. That means less flour. Mixing with less flour will make it less crumbly and easier to roll, and you can always add a bit of milk after the fact if it's still funky. A good test I use is to make a ball and smooth out all the bumps and cracks by rolling it between my palms. Then I lightly smoosh the ball down onto the cloth. If it cracks only very slightly or even better not at all, you're good to go! -Keep turning it over with the stick every few rolls to avoid dough getting stuck to the cloth. -The grooves in the rolling pin are designed to help keep you from applying too much pressure and ripping the dough or getting it stuck. Gentle touch, many turns. -YOU CAN PUT LITERALLY ANYTHING ON IT!!! God I love lefse I'm really glad you like it so much and I hope you make more :)

    My grandma passed down her lefse recipe and skills to my mom and aunties. We make it every Christmas. It just takes practice :) The stick is key, keep that tool for next time! The dough should be rolled out paper thin, like you can see through it. As everyone said....too much flour *cries*

    I grew up in a town where we held the world's largest Scandinavian festival and we had so much lefse and potatoes and for graduation my grandma gave me a lefse rolling pin :) Thanksgiving every year we had lefse with butter and sugar

    We have something simmilar in Slovakia, it is called Lokše (lokshe). Usually we have them with roasted chicken or a duck. :)

I am Guamanian and can say with certainty that Chamorro food is the BEST.
