1050 goes Protilling!

** Well guys, let's go do one of my favourite jobs on the farm, and that is some recreational tillage!
** I sprayed out some seeded down grass/alfalfa (been seeded for 10+years) over the course of the summer, and now rolling in with Protill to break it up and prepare it to plant for the 2021 season.
** I have enough videos uploaded to NLcameras to keep us going for next couple weeks haha, so if you are interested in staying a little more up to date, than check me out on Patreon, as that's what I use for my social media account 🙂

THANKS GUYS, YOU'RE AWESOME! 🙂

Do you ever have plow or tillage days, where guys with tractors can come from wherever and they just well you know what I mean tractors of all sizes and makes have a fun day working the ground! I think I'd like to have a tractor and participate in that! Do you have days like that your events like that?

If you set the cruise for 12 or 13 mph then would the tractor maybe be able to keep up at 10:00 I'm meaning would it end up being like 10 mph because the pole and the drag on the tractor would equal out more? Just curious I've never ran it farm tractor before but I wish I could I think I'd love it and boy am I enjoying your videos they're very informative!

I'm not a farmer, I'm a city guy. But I'm wondering when you hook up to equipment that uses hydraulics, like the one you got from their co-op. when you operate the hydraulics, does the hydraulic fluid that's in or used on the implement, mix with the hydraulic oil that's in your tractor? Thus it all becomes one big soup? And could that not be bad if the last operator of the implement or tractor, doesn't maintain their fluid and filters properly? I mean you could pass on trouble to someone else is my point. ?

Hi, I just found your videos and joined! I like these videos! I like the extreme wide angle, I also like the stability shots. So I think video a using a combination would be the answer. I was glad you talked about the broken pieces on the equipment and the lack of grease. I'm a big lubrication fan. I also would like to know, why a co-op would not have somebody on top of lubricating and making repairs good equipment that they're renting out period? It seems to me to be poor maintenance and caring for equipment that is expensive, and it sounds like a poorly managed co-op? As farm equipment is not cheap! so why not take care of equipment so it lasts a long time and thus cause very little down time for anybody?

Turn the key to on then wait about 10 seconds for the engine computer to do its checks then turn the key to start.. You kinda rushed the start by turning the key off then turning the key straight to the start position and not allowing the computer to cycle through its engine checks.. So the fuel pump was not running the first long start you did..

Mike i wach all your guys videos about these up to day mobile Computer robot tractors as i callem. my totall feelings and ideas about them are one thing. they take away the tractors capabilities for good old solid horse power, saying this for a reason i drove a ugly old 825 versatile that if the radio worked you were in heaven, but waching all the tractors you all show i clearly see that low horse powered versatile would kick the asses of those computerised robot tractors you all call a tractor. hook one of them onto a 60 foot Deep Til cultivator and sink it 8 to 10 inches into the ground and see what happens. where we farmed there was hills going up all you seen was blue sky ect and we pulled them up themor down them, needing to use our smarticals wich was the best gears to run with.

Awesome video Mike! Nice to hear the Fendt 1050 running so quiet and smoothly. Sure, good for the Protilling and for driving 70 km! Still don't understand that it is not able to deal with your Drills (either 68 Ft or even the 84 Ft drill and cart so far. Clearly impressed by the other tractors like the CaseIH 620 Quadtrac with 620 HP, really impressive. I asked you earlier if a cart that is propelled (motor or fuelcell and hydromotors in the wheels) could help, maybe in future? It will reduce the slip a lot and it will allow you to get to the wider drill, the 84 Ft as well. Just curious what you think of this idea. Have seen the 1050 was used for the graincart recently? Interesting to see at 7:57 the oil production wells with devices that are supposed to pump oil. I wasn't aware oil and/or gas wells existed in your area and currently oil extraction is going on in the area? Is that also on your land, of that on others. One day you will become an 'oil farmer' or 'natural gas farmer'😉 Nice to see you checking as on the rubbers, welds, and parts and testing the Protill machine you were renting beforehand, and having it greased! Much going on on that machine. Must have had a hard job to do earlier on. But very nice machine though, doing a great great job! Nice to see you checking the soil, that looks very good isn''t it? Nice to pushing the 1050 to the limit again in TMS mode or with ful-throttle 👍👌 At 24:27 and further railway with train transporting goods or oil or else? Just interested. Thanks for making us part👌

I guarantee you that glaring lack of maintenance is deliberate. They probably keep their equipment in that state because they expect to be able to blame some poor schmuck that didn't do a PDI on the implement before taking it out. They're probably waiting for someone to break it after not checking it first or taking photos and then have them pay for damages that weren't even their fault, aside from the fact that *everyone* should be doing PDIs and taking pictures of rental equipment before it even leaves the yard. I've always been *that guy* at work who's unlucky enough to be the one who breaks an already broken machine, and I *always* got blamed for it. My luck is so bad that at one point, I was moving a small Scissor lift out of the wash-bay at no more than a walking-pace, over a smooth concrete pad, and one of the wheels completely fell off (due to the mechanic over-torquing the studs). Take a wild guess who got blamed for that one, though. I'll give you a clue: it wasn't the mechanic that fucked it up in the first place. The thing that fucked me in that particular job is that I simply did not have time to inspect every single piece of equipment I got on. "It's not my job to steer the ship, or even ring the bell... But let that damn thing start to sink and see who catches hell." - The Blue-Collar credo -

Fendts may be good and all, but their Challenger variants are much better from a value-per-dollar standpoint. As you're likely aware, Fendts cost an arm, a leg, and your first born child. Challengers may be more basic in appointments, but that means what you're paying for are only features that you actually need. I'm no Challenger fanboy (brand loyalty doesn't make sense in this day and age), but as far as I'm aware, Challenger is one of the few Ag outfits that still uses true manual transmissions in some of the larger models. Fancy transmissions may make things easier, but they are far less reliable than a good old synchro'd manual. You also get more torque to the final-drives with a manual transmission, in addition to better fuel-economy, since torque convertors aren't nearly as efficient as the hard-lockup you get with a good clutch. A Fendt may have super-fancy cab features and what-not, but you could switch over to a similarly featured Challenger and not lose any capability whatsoever. All you would lose is a bit of the comfort options that Fendt has, most of which are totally unnecessary. All the cab features I consider necessary are cruise-control, an air-seat, a GPS and a fan/heater. As long as I have a GPS with field-analysis and implement talk-back capability, I don't really need auto-steer.
